Catch Me, I'm Falling

Adam was just arriving home from a show, a little later than usual. Sammy had wanted him home earlier, but after going out a different stage door to usual, he'd found something he hadn't expected to.

"Sammy!" He called as he got out of his car, going to the back of the car to check on the thin, shivering teenage boy he'd found.

Adam called out again, not knowing if Sammy had even heard from inside the house, carefully lifting the boy who had Adam's coat on, having been given it before Adam had taken him to the car. Adam held him in his arms, glad for a moment that the fact that the boy was thin made him lighter and carried him towards the house.

Sammy, who was around five months pregnant at the time, came to the door with a worried look on her face. "Adam?" she looked at him confused when she saw the frail teen in his arms. "What's going on?"

"I found him outside the theatre," Adam said as he got closer, looking down at the boy in his arms. "I think by the looks of him he'd been living back there..."

Sammy frowned. "Poor kid, let's get him inside, get him warmed up, and I'll look him over," she said. "Who knows what he could have caught out there."

Adam nodded, kissing Sammy's cheek before heading inside, laying the boy on the couch before going to find a blanket.

Sammy sat down on the couch, shaking her head at the young boy's condition.

Adam came back a few minutes later, carrying the blanket he always insisted on having himself when sick.

Sammy smiled. "I had a feeling you'd grab that one."

"Well he's sick..." Adam said, kneeling to wrap the blanket around the boy, frowning when he jumped and moved as far as he could away from Adam on the couch.

"Hey," Sammy said gently, turning to the scared teen on her couch. "Don't be afraid, we just wanna help, that's all."

Adam sighed and watched as the boy shook his head, curling up and hiding his face behind his hands.

"We're just trying to get you warmed up hun," Sammy tried to reason. "I bet you're freezing..."

The boy gave a small nod, slowly uncovering his face, looking up at Sammy with a nervous expression.

Sammy gave the boy a small smile. "It's alright, I promise."

The boy gave a small smile, shivering again, staying still this time as Adam covered him with the blanket, slowly reaching up to wrap it tightly around himself.

"There," said Sammy with a smile. "You'll be warm in no time," she said. "I was making a batch of homemade hot chocolate when you and Adam got here, would you like some?"

The boy smiled and nodded, curling up more as he tried to warm up.

Sammy slowly moved to stand, resting a hand on her swollen stomach. "Okay, I'll go make you a cup then," she smiled.

Adam watched as Sammy stood, smiling at her. "You need any help?" He asked, moving to get up.

Sammy shook her head. "You stay with him, I'm only going to the kitchen Adam, I'll be fine," she said. "We'll be fine."

Adam smiled and nodded, sitting back down and looking at the boy again, looking worried.

Sammy went into the kitchen, poured a coffee mug of hot chocolate for the boy, and came back into the living room, sitting back down on the couch before she offered it to him.

Seeing Sammy return, Adam carefully helped the boy sit up after watching him struggle to do so on his own. Once he was sitting up, the boy held his hands out for the drink, smiling up at Sammy as he took it.

Sammy gave a soft smile. "Careful, don't wanna burn yourself."

Adam smiled as the boy shook his head before slowly drinking.
