Another Chance, Another Day

Cybele hugged Lennon back. "Love you sweetie."

"Love you mama." Lennon responded.

Adam sat there watching them, wiping his eyes.

Cybele grinned, tickling Lennon gently.

Lennon squeaked and laughed, not bothering to stop her.

"Somebody's ticklish," said Cybele, continuing.

Lennon squealed and kept laughing, eventually wrapping his arms around his sides.

Cybele smiled, kissing his head again.

Lennon curled up against Cybele, sighing.

Adam smiled, wrapping his arms around Cybele again.

"You okay sweetie?" Cybele asked Lennon.

"Mmhmm." Lennon nodded. "Wasn't a sad sigh..." He chuckled.

"Okay," said Cybele.

Adam watched the two quietly and smiled before leaning closer to kiss Cybele's cheek.

Cybele smiled, but it faded quickly. "I've done something, I know I have," she said softly. "Even you boys are hesitant with me now..."

"It-it's nothing..." Adam said nervously, knowing they couldn't really tell her.

"You're not wearing your ring," Cybele pointed out.

"I was at work." Adam said. "I didn't want to lose it."

Cybele nodded slowly. "Okay..."

Adam pulled his ring from a pocket on his jeans and slowly slid it back on, having always carried in his pocket when he hadn't been wearing it.

Cybele smiled when she saw this, reaching out to take his hand.

Adam smiled as Cybele took his hand, turning his over so he could hold onto hers too.

"I don't even know how much I don't remember," said Cybele softly. "I don't know if it's months, years..."

"What sort of things do you remember...?" Adam asked curiously.

"It's really really spotty," said Cybele. "I remember things like the wedding, when Lennon was born, when Monte was born, Lennon's first dance class, things like that, but I know there's years between there that I don't...I don't remember..."

Adam stared at her in shock, realising she probably didn't remember anything at all that she'd done to him, not even the constant arguing.

Cybele looked away, tearing up again.
