Catch Me, I'm Falling

Adam nodded, but stayed still, lost in thought.

Sammy slowly stood up.

Adam blinked and slowly looked up at her, a curious expression on his face. "What are you...?"

"Going to go check on him," said Sammy. "Make sure he's alright."

"Oh, right." Adam said, running a hand through his hair.

Sammy headed upstairs.

Gabriel was sitting up in bed, hugging his knees to his chest, his head resting on his knees.

Sammy quietly peeked around the door. "Gabriel?"

Gabriel jumped slightly at the sudden sound, lifting his head to look up at Sammy. "Hmm?"

"You okay?" Sammy asked.

"Yes..." Gabriel said quietly, running a hand through his hair.

Sammy slowly came over to the bed. "You sure?"

"Yeah...just don't sleep much..." Gabriel shrugged.

Sammy nodded. "Something happened back there, back home, didn't it?" Sammy asked. "That's why you left."

Gabriel gave a small nod. "Yeah..." He said quietly.

Sammy nodded. "I thought so," she said softly. "You don't have to talk about it, I'm just trying to understand you."

Gabriel nodded again, wrapping Adam's plaid blanket around himself.

Sammy sat down on the edge of the bed. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Gabriel shrugged his shoulders. "I...don't know..." He said, pausing before quietly asking "C-Can I have a hug...?"

Sammy smiled softly. "Of course hun," she said softly. "C'mere."

Gabriel gave a small smile, slowly moving over to Sammy, being careful not to hurt his foot.

Sammy wrapped her arms around Gabriel, hugging him close.

Gabriel smiled and relaxed against Sammy, eventually hugging her back.

Sammy smiled, before carefully slipping a hand to Gabriel's forehead. "You're burning up..."

"No!" Gabriel said, quickly moving away, curling up in the corner at the end of the bed with the pillow. "I'm not, I-I'm fine..." He said, wrapping the blanket tighter around himself.
